The Galloping Grandma is off on another Adventure - this time to the Galapagos Islands (on the Equator off the coast of Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean) and the Amazon Rain Forest!! A 20-day holiday incorporating a 2-week cruise around the 'Enchanted Isles' in an elegant two-masted Topsail Schooner (without ever having to lift a finger in the Galley!), a visit to Antisana (all that snow and no skis!), plus a 4-day extension to the Amazon Jungle....... me and spiders?????

Thursday 16 Feb 2012. - Sombrero Chino (Chinese Hat) Island and Rabida Island
Wet landing onto beach at Chinese Hat island for short walk at 8am then snorkelling at 10.15 – there were millions of tiny fish, like a pink mist to swim in and shoals of different fish. A sea lions swam almost touching me, but it was too fast for me to get a photo. We saw penguins on the way back in the panga.
We had a “navigation” of about 90 minutes before lunch to Rabida island. We went snorkelling at 2pm from the red volcanic sand which was so VERY hot to stand on. The water was cloudy, though deep. Others saw lobster and rays, but I did not. Had a walk at 4pm up to Flaminigo Lagoon (where there are no flamingos!) though we did see some tiny wild tomatoes and a small shark feeding frenzy on the way back.
